May be grievance, come to subdue my heart

Come again, even if to leave and break heart

Though having no sociability been before, yet

As societal courtesy, for the people, do come,

How do I share all, the reason of our parting?

You’ve woe with me; but for people, do come

Many hopes from you has hitherto my heart

Yet, to extinguish this very last hope, do come

Ranjish hi sahi dil hi dukhany k liye aa

aa phir e mjhy chor k jany k liye aa

pehly se marasim na sahi phir b kabi to

rasm-o-rahy dunya hi nibhany k liye aa

kis kis ko bataen ge judai ka sabab hum

tu mujh se khafa hai to zamany k liye aa

ab tak dil-e-khush fehem ko tujh se hain umeeden

ye aakhri shammen b bujhany k liye aa

Shadows will endure behind when you leave
Some signs of splendor sustain when you leave
Met you here on the coastline of this lagoon
When recollect, I’ll feel you here by this lagoon
Remembrance never fades nor does ambiance
How faraway you, you’ll find self by this lagoon
Thy body’s fragrance will spellbind the ambiance
Thy thick black hair will signify the dark clouds
Flowers will borrow crimson color of thy mouth
Thy loveliness will forever enhance the ambiance
Don’t think in this lively pulsating striking valley
Thou are not simply a timely breathing essence
Like my fortune you are destined here for ever
Thou are part of this striking amazing ambiance
Shadows will endure behind when you leave
Some signs of splendor sustain when you leave

What an air, what sort of folk, how they respond
They call the wound, a flower and gale to hot wind
What a despair that walking at slow pace for them
Now call us names as blistered feet wanderers
What would you say if  long time missing adored
When happens to meet by chance astonishingly
That’s my way of affirming your betrayal; A style
A flair of loveliness, charm and thy alluring style
As long as thou are distant, let me worship thee
The one who remains untouched is goddess for me
Faraz! It’s surprising that we, always the ambitious,

Are condemned for being ruthless by UN-ambitious

zakhm ko phul to sar sar ko saba kahte hain
jane kya daur hai kya log hain kya kahte hain

kya qayamat hai ke jin ke liye ruk ruk ke chale
ab vahi log hamain abalapa kahte hain

koi batalao ke ik umr ka bichara mahabub
ittefaqan kahin mil jaye to kya kahte hain

ye bhi andaz-e-sukhan hai ke jafa ko teri
gamza-o-ishva-o-andaz-o-ada kahte hain

jab talak dur hai tu teri parastish kar lain
ham jise chu na sakain us ko khuda kahte hain

kya tajjub hai ke ham ahl-e-tamanna ko ‘Faraz’
wo jo maharum-e-tamanna hain bura kahte hain

Which land have you been deported to?
I’m lost and alone in this crowded world
The Death angel has deserted me also
The wish for seeing is not fulfilled also
The heart’s heartless and unconcerned
Nothing interests or charms heart at all
One soul having boundless desolation
May not breathe his last of suffocation
Let me look at you with dipping eyes
As am sinking into the land of eternity
Which land have you been deported to?
I’m lost and alone in this crowded world

Someone’s putting an end to murky life

Come, someone’s passing away of his life

Angel of death! Wait for some moments

Beloved’s coming so as to fulfill her vow

The style she’s sitting beside the lover’s body

As if she’s pampering it; to, breathe again

Her beautiful hand’s warmly touching body

May bring back to heart, to breathe life again

Gham e Hayat Ka Jhagra Mita Raha Hai Koi
Chalay Aao K Duniya Se Ja Raha Hai KoiKoi Azal Se Keh Do K Ruk Jaye Do Ghari

Suna Hai Aanay Ka Wada Nibha Raha Hai Koi

Woh Is Naaz Se Baithay Hain Lash K Paas
Jaisay Roothay Huway Ko Mana Raha Hai Koi

Palat Kar Na Aa Jaye Phir Sans Nabzon Mein
Itnay Haseen Hathon Se Maiyat Saja Raha Hai Koi

My heart broke like a dazzling mirror

Breaks, as if fallen on a hard boulder

As tears falling from eyelashes away

As a piercing arrow breaks; in my heart

As an appealing delicate bough of desire

Breaks all of a sudden in full blossom

Like a sequence of a romantic dream

Tangles at the time of realizing the dream

Like the earth slither under feet away

As hazards befall from above the sky

The branch I had the reliance on its solidity

Nests built on it were all collapsed away

As an insensible comes back to senses

As a lost utopian comes back to senses

Now being shattered into pieces I think

Who sensed the suffering I went through?

My going through, of grief, is just worthless

Hum jo toote to is tarah toote
jaise hathon se girr k pathar par
koi shafaaf aaiina toote
jaise palkon se toot tha aansoo
jaise seene main ik kamaan toote
jaise umeed ki nazuk daali
barg mosam main na gahaan toote
jaise aankhon main khwab ki doori
waqt e takmeel se ulajh jaye
jaise pairon tale zameen nikle
jaise sar par yeh asmaan toote
jaise ik shaakh pe bharosa kia
is pe jitne thay aashiyaan toote
jaise wehshat se hosh aa jaye
jaise ta dair main dheyaan toote
ab jo raiza howay to sochte hain
kis nay dekha tha tootna apna
hum jo toote to raayegaan toote

Early life and background of Amir Khusro

Hazrat Amir Khusro was born in Patiyala in Uttar Pradesh. His father Syed Saif-uddinMahmud was a Turkish officer and a member of the Lachine tribe of Transoxania.

His mother was the daughter of Rawat Arz, the famous war minister of Balban, and belonged to Rajput tribes of Uttar Pradesh

Amir khusro had two brothers, Aizazuddin and Hussamuddin

He is regarded as the “Father of qawwali”

He enriched the Hindustani classical music by introducing Persian and Arabic elements in it.

He was the originator of KHAYAL and TARANA style of music

His contribution to the development of the Ghazal, hitherto little used in India, is particularly significant.

The invention of the Tabla and Sitar is also traditionally attributed to him

Selected verses of Hazrat Amir Khusro;

1-Pathway   to the well is very irregular

How do I make there and fill my pitcher

Though I went there to fill my decanter

Due to nervousness, I broke decanter

Khusrau’s in love with Nizaam all in all

My vanity and pride be taken all in all

2- Lively mustard blossoming in the field so

Mango buds spring up, other flowers too

The nightingale chants bough to bough

Maiden engaged to beautify self though

Gardener girls bring fragranced flowers

Everyone brings in hand lively flowers

At Nizamuddin’s door lay the flowers

He promised to come in love though

It has been years waiting for him

Maiden is busy to beautify self though

3- Khusrao! Love’s stream flows in a strange way

The one who dives into it finds the right way

3- Khusrau darya prem ka, ulti wa ki dhaar
Jo utra so doob gaya, jo dooba so paar

4- I am in you, and you echo me,
as I’m the body, you the soul;

I’m like you and you akin to me

Like one soul in two bodies

Hence in the life hereafter

We are one soul in two bodies

5- I am in you, and you echo me,
as I’m the body, you the soul;

Like two bodies in one soul

So in the life hereafter

I’m not somebody or you someone else

5- Mun tu shudam tu mun shudi, mun tun shudam tu jaan shudi
Taakas na guyad baad azeen, mun deegaram tu deegari

I spray tears to make fertile my heart
The tears soothe wounds of my heart
Lost all senses in thy remembrance
Wander in wilds in thy remembrance
Deprived of the ecstasy of loneliness
People tag along wherever I go away
That piece of earth is not less sacred
Where I set foot engrossed in adoration
Lucky are the ones; blissfully blessed
I give color to life’s canvas with my blood
I’m heading toward the beautiful love land
Where cruel hearts soften with adoration
A divine dervish needs no worldly riches
The angels too envy his saintly elevation
Love often withers freshness from garden
Love also makes flora blossom in arid region

Would have been in ecstasy if met her

Would lay my heart or give life for her

There’s no fun in amity or joy in enmity

One may be stranger; someone a buddy

Would have been more joy if both felt excited

Neither you are stress-free nor do I be pleased

Would wait patiently if I trusted your word

Or if I was sure of how long I more existed

Ajab apna hal hota jo visal-e-yar hota
kabhi jan sadqe hoti kabhi dil nisar hota

na maza hai dushmani main na hai lutf dosti main
koi gair gair hota koi yar yar hota

ye maza tha dillagi ka k barabar ag lagti
na tumhen qarar hota na hamain qarar hota

tere wade par sitamagar abhi aur sabr karte
agar apni zindagi ka hamain aitabar hota
